About 2024 Sussex Truth and Reconciliation Day Event Committee:

We have held an event for National Truth and Reconciliation Day for 3 years. We have grown from 120 in attendance in 2021 to over 250 last year. Community interest grows each year. We plan an Event for Sept. 30th but also try to get local schools and businesses involved in the weeks leading up to it. We are the only local event in the greater Sussex area.

Our Mission:

We endeavour to create a yearly event where attendees are made more aware of Residential Schools and what happened at them as well as promoting relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people, and increase knowledge of community members to the history of the Sussex Vale Indian Academy.

How You Can Support Us:

The 2024 Sussex Truth and Reconciliation Day Event Planning Committee is looking for new committee members and people who would be willing to help us in the preparation for and on Sept. 30th. Specific roles we are looking to fill: Secretary (grant application an asset) Treasurer
