Vision Mate Volunteer

In this position, you will provide regular one-on-one assistance and companionship for a person who is blind or partially sighted. You will: • Visit a client in his/her home or other suitable environment at a mutually convenient time; during the day, in the evenings or on weekends, whatever works for both you and the client – it's an extremely flexible role!! • Provide help with reading, organizing, walking, and assisting with errands. • Provide companionship and friendly visiting. • Activities are mutually agreed upon, though determined by client need. • This position requires a 2-hour weekly commitment. Some clients only need a visit every other week or once a month so a match can usually be found that will work into your busy schedule! • As a Virtual Vision Mate, you would be offering support and friendship to a client on the phone or on-line zoom conferencing

Volunteers are encouraged to grow within CNIB; there are opportunities for increased responsibility and opportunities for training and skill development. • Candidates must be trustworthy, dependable, compassionate, flexible with good communication skills, and able to work with minimum supervision • Volunteers must be double vaccinated against Covid 19 Virus. • The minimum age is 18 years.
